Dear colleagues, dear friends,

The new BeSHG year

With its second general assembly on 22.02.2002, our Society entered its third year beautifully. The Annual Meeting was, by all accounts, a great success. At the general assembly, we only longed for more candidates to apply for the board. K. Keymolen was elected to the board, and M. Abramowicz was re-elected as President.

Our next meeting will take place on 07.02.2003 at the KULeuven. Please mark your agendas!

Applications for hosting the 2004 and 2005 meetings are still open (deadline 31 May).

Workgroup on Genetics as a Medical Specialty

The first meeting of this new workgroup will be hosted by C. Verellen-Dumoulin on 28.03.2002 at 11:30 in Cliniques St-Luc (UCL), Bldg "La Verrerie", Level 0, Salle du Conseil. Eight candidates have already applied to the workgroup, all MDs except one. We feel that non-MD geneticists should also be well represented at this first meeting to outline the frame of the workgroup, perhaps even frame a second workgroup specifically for laboratory issues. So we invite additional members to join this first meeting.

Yours faithfully,

Geert Mortier
